IELTS GT Task 2: Please provide feedback.

People should read only those books that are about real events, real people, and established facts. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

The importance of reading cannot be ignored. Many people believe that only those books should be read which are based on facts and real events rather than fiction books. In my opinion, I agree with them because people gain more knowledge and they feel motivated.

The first reason that people ought to prefer non-fiction books is that they become curious to learn more. When they read a true story of someone, they become eager to learn more about that. As a result, they read more related books on the same subject in order to gain more knowledge. On the other hand, fiction books are based on imagination of authors which may or may not increase the knowledge of readers. Many university students, for instance, read the case of the Enron, the largest company of the USA in 2004, in their course of studies. Many of them read more about it, even after completing their education, since this company defrauded all the stakeholders.

Another reason of predilection for real-story books is that readers become motivated. That is to say when they go through the real stories of people, they pursue their goals eagerly and try not to give up easily. They realize that if those people can achieve something in their life despite hardships, why they cannot attain. Many small investors, for example, made significant gains on their investments in 2008 in spite of the fact that there was a global crisis. The reason was many of them read autobiographies of Mr. Warren Buffet, the renowned investor of the world.

In conclusion, I take the view that people should choose books that are based on real events since they can feel motivated to attain their objectives and can become curious to learn more.
