IELTS- Government should make more effort to promote alternative sources of energy.
Hi all, I need help with my grammar and essay structure. I appreciate anything you can suggest. It would be great if you could also tell me which band level I am writing at.
Topic: Government should make more effort to promote alternative sources of energy. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
Answer: As is commonly understood, fossil fuel is the primary source of energy used today. It is believed that fossil fuels will soon run out and the government should put more effort into exploiting alternative sources of energy. This will be shown by discussing the impact fossil fuels have on the economy and the environment.
Looking first at the economy impact, it is widely known that fossil fuel resources are limited and cannot be replenished easily. Fossil fuels are sold at an affordable price; however there has been a consistent climb. It is anticipated to be sold at an exorbitant price in the near future. Thus, fossil fuel is not reliable for long term economical development. Take transportation for instance, fossil fuels power vehicles and vehicles transport goods. If fossil fuel prices rise by over 20 percent, the market prices will inflate. If the government continues to rely on fossil fuel, the economy will suffer.
Moreover, fossil fuel utilization is detrimental to the environment. Oil spill has caused a staggering amount of deaths in marine fauna, upsetting the marine food chain. Global warming, a phenomenon possibly induced by burning fossil fuels is influencing the whole ecosystem. When looking at these impacts, there is no doubt that the government should take action to promote alternative energy sources and demote the use of fossil fuels.
Following the discussion of the two points above, it has been shown that the government should put more effort into alternative energy development. It is expected that the government will help the citizen step into a new era of energy sources.
