IELTS General Training Writing Task 1

*Topic:

You recently stayed in a hotel in a large city. The weather was very unusual for the time of year and the heating / cooling system in the hotel was quite inadequate.

Write a letter to the manager of the hotel. In your letter:

  • Give details of what went wrong
  • Explain what you had to do to overcome the problem at the time
  • Say what action you would like the manager to take

You should write at least 150 words.

*Answer:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to draw your attention to an issue I have with the air-conditioner in my room. The weather in this city this year was unusually hot, and I expected an air-conditioner that works well. However, it did not live up to my expectation because it only ran for a while and shut down automatically. I could turn it on again, but it kept turning off on its own. Since it was so hot, I hardly stayed in my room and when I did, I opened all of the windows to let the wind come in. At one point, the heat was too much for me, so I asked for an upgrade to a different room, but all of the rooms in the hotel were fully booked. I strongly recommend that have every air-conditioner in your hotel checked carefully, and either fix or replace broken ones.

Hoping for a positive response.

Sincerely yours

John

Thank you very much for your help<3
