Today more and more tourists are visiting places where conditions are difficult, such as the Sahara desert or the Antarctic. What are the benefits and disadvantages for tourists who visit such places?

It is true that there is an increasing number of tourists coming to far-flung places like the Sahara desert or the Antarctic nowadays. This travel experience brings with it benefits and challenges to the tourists.

To begin with, visiting these exotic places can give the tourists invaluable travelling experience and insights. In other words, exotic fauna and flora in these places which could not be found anywhere else in the world can provide a unique experience to the tourists . For example, there are some certain types of cactus that only grow in the Sahara desert, or polar bears can only be seen in the North Pole. For those who are interested in these special plants and animals could gain a huge benefit to learn about them when visiting these areas.

However, there are some disadvantages to visiting these places. Firstly, severe weather conditions can pose risks to the health of tourists’. For instance, the scorching and dry weather in the desert could easily dehydrate the tourists, or the icing cold in the Antarctic might cause severe colds and frostbites. Secondly, few facilities are available in these places, so the tourists have very limited access. For instance, if they run out of food, they will have difficulty finding a grocery store, or if they get sick, it will be hard to get instant medical treatment due to lack of clinic centres nearby. The limited access to facilities can make the travelling experience very challenging.

In conclusion, although travelling to exotic places such as the Sahara desert or the Antarctic can bring the tourists great knowledge and experience, there are many drawbacks associated with it.
