IELTS Essay: topic "subjects based on gender"

In schools and universities, girls tend to choose arts while boys like science. What are the reasons for this trend and do you think this tendency should be changed?

It is true that many subjects are more popular with one gender than the other. While some people argue that men have a tendency on science courses and women on arts, I believe that this trend has a range of reasons to explain and that it is unneccessary to change it.

There are various reasons why people suppose that a selection whether art subjects or science procedure based on gender is prevalent these days. Many science, such as physics or maths, might attact more male applicants according to their physiology and characteristics. For example, with a hectic schedule and a high intense work in the future, most of male engineers or architects would do better than those of woman. Otherwise, many jobs requiring perseverance are suitable to woman’s characteristics. It would be wrong if a female student is not the best candidate for a place on a course like language or art.

Having an attempt to change the tendency mentioned above, I believe that it is not practical to aim. Universities should continue to choose the best candidates according to their qualifications and ambition. In this way, all applicants know that they will be successful if they achieve good grades at school regardless whether art or science subjects. Additionally, a student might develop skills and abilities or even applied themselves to a course or a job that they really enjoy.

In conclusion, both men and women have the same educational opportunities in choosing the course that they enjoy the most.
