IELTS Essay - Please review and provide feedback

Hello. Can you please review my essay below? I will be appearing in IELTS exam soon. Thank you.

International tourism has brought enormous benefits to many places. At the same time, there is concern about its impact on local inhabitants and the environment. Do the disadvantages of international tourism outweigh the advantages?

Tourism is increasing rapidly since last few years. Although there are numerous positive aspects of international tourism, many believe that it has adverse ramifications for the local people and the environment. In my opinion, this brings many advantages than its drawbacks.

Despite the some disadvantages below, this generates employment for local people and increases economic activity in the country. It is because visitors spend substantial amount of money when they visit any country as they usually want to roam each and every place of it. This does not only result in more employment opportunities for the locals, but also contribute significantly in enhancing the economic activities. Around 600,000 tourists, for instance, visited Dubai in 2018. The economy of the country grew by 16%; whereas, unemployment ratio dropped to mere 2.5% in that year.

Admittedly, this may cause some minor problems. One possible issue is jeopardizing roads and rail networks since its usage will be increased substantially due to surge in the number of visitors. This may also lead to break down in the services that may affect the locals there. Since visitors usually throw trash on the roads, another obvious problem can be the surge in littering. As a result, various insects and flies may arise and people living there may suffer from health problems. However, many countries have proper waste disposal facilities and invest heavily on infrastructure so that maximum visitors can be accommodated without causing issues for the locals. More than two million people from Europe alone, for example, went China in 2016 but their locals were not impacted.

In conclusion, higher growth opportunities for the local people and growing economy are the main benefits of international tourism that greatly outweigh its drawbacks.
