IELTS essay - online classes - Please review. Thanks

Giving lectures in auditoriums to large numbers of students is an old way of teaching. With the technology available today, everything should be done online.

Do you agree or disagree?

It is argued that with the advancement in technology, teachers should prefer to give online lectures instead of teaching physically in large classes. I disagree with this view because of seriousness and distraction issues.

In internet based learning, students get distracted easily. This is because they know that they can view the lessons again when they have time. Most teachers record their lectures and provide weblinks to the students so that they can obtain help when they require. Thus, rather than concentrating on lessons, they browse the internet and waste time on trivial things. It is reported that only 6% of the Cambridge University Students who enrolled for online classes, for example, passed their MBA exam in 2015. The reason was most of them were involved in free lancing business.

Another reason I prefer classroom learning is that students are usually more serious in classrooms than they are in online classes. Since they are being noticed by the lecturer, they tend to concentrate attentively on what he is saying otherwise he can ask questions. In other words, they avoid to talk with each other and just focus on the lectures. Despite the availability of online tutorial classes, the students of Dhaka University, the largest university of Bangladesh, for instance, opt to attend physical classes. This is because of classroom discipline and concentration.

In conclusion, I take the view that teachers should avoid giving online lectures. Distraction on the internet and seriousness problem are the two main reasons for this.
