Question

Some people think that men and women have different qualities. Therefore, some certain jobs are suitable for men and some jobs are suitable for women. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Answer:

There are many strong arguments whether men and wonmen could perform the same type of work or not. Some people believe that both genders have the same qualities, while others oppose this point of view. Personally, I partly agree with this idea.

On the one hand, men and women have some distinct characteristics which determine the range of jobs open to them. In terms of physical strength, women might not strong enough to work on construction sites or drive heavy trucks, which require physical endurance and facing danger. So few women enter the army. In terms of traditional stereotypes, jobs women are considered to be more caring and sensitive than men, so there are number of jobs including nursing, household activities or bringing up children are more attractive to females then males.

On the other hand, I beleive that both sexes have equal opportunities in their career path. Firstly, changes education have give women the same change to gain their education as men. If women work hard and suceed in their jobs, they deserve to reach the top in their chosen field and progress rapidly in their career. Secondly, a more modern outlook has broken the tradition barriers, which effectively prevented men and women from doing certain jobs in the past: construction workers, truck drivers or sodiers in the case of women; nursing, cooking and cleaning jobs in the case of men.

In conclusion, although I agree that each gender hase individual characturistics which are relevant tobtheir personality, I also argue that there is no room today for sex discrimination at work - either against women or against men.
