Topic: Some people advocate the death penalty for those who committed violent crimes. Others say that capital punishment is unacceptable in contemporary society. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of the death penalty and give your opinion.

My essay:

Some people think that violent crimes should deal with the capital punishment. While other think that this punishment is unethical and should be done away with. I personally believe that although death penalty is the cost-effective solution, since there is little budget accomodation or meals to criminals, this unethical punishment should be abolished.

On one hand, capital punishment makes the best way to deter crime. Fear of the death penalty will stop people from commiting offences and bring the peace to our society. Also, the cost of imprisonment is avoided. Fees such as accommodation, budget food could be spared when state-sanctioned killing is done to criminals, and this money could be wisely spent elsewhere, donate it to an orphanage for example.

On the other hand, I believe that capital punishment is not a good deterrent. Since all beings were born equal, everyone deserves an opportunity to repent for what they have done, irrespective of whether their past actions were gruesome. We have no right to take another human life. Innocent people could be wrongly convicted and excuted.

In summary, although capital punishment allows room for money to be saved, I strongly contend that life is crucial and cannot be measured in terms of money. In the future, it is my speculation that state-sanctioned killing would be eradicated for good.
