Hi teacher, I have written a campare and contrast essay related to handwriting and typing. I am blissful because you are reading this essay and help me to correct it. Thank you so much
As we move firmly into the digital age, we are writing as much or more with a keyboard than with a pen and paper. Computers and smartphones are fundamental equipment in the business community, and students are more likely to type their paper than to wire by hand. Whether two types of writing serve the purpose of putting words together, there are some significant differences.
Both handwriting and typing are used to convey information. They both use the same groups of letters to form words and use the same groups of words to form sentences. However, in handwritten text, all of the beauty and flaws are attributed to the writer, and more information about the author, especially emotion, can come out. The appearance of handwritten documents can easily change with excitement or fatigue, whereas the type words seems to be fixed and stable even when they were produced by a tired author or a delighted one. These words are standardized, there are no flourishes and misshapen words to worry about.
Speed is the second essential factor effecting on writing. Writers are likely to able to put down their ideas, in paper or electrons, as they come, moving from the brain, through the hand, into the paper or screen. Taking notes in a meeting or a class requires the writers to process someone else’s ideas that is facilitated by the fluency of writing or typing. For the person who uses the pen to transport information into the paper, they need to concentrate on forming their words so they are legible, in the line, respecting the margins, not overlapping, not too big or too small. Learning to type, on the other hand, frees the authors from staring at the words, so more attention can be paid to the actual ideas.
Both two types of writing convey information to the reader, whether the reader is a stranger, a close friend or the writer himself. Misspellings, awkward sentences, incorrect grammar can be found in both of these styles. Nevertheless, in handwritten text, a character can make the readers feel ambiguous – is that an “a” or an “o”? – whereas the choice must be made when a keyboard is used. Furthermore, using pen to write forces to write to reply on himself for spacing between and within words, for respecting margins and correcting errors. Typing on the computer or smartphone, on the other hand, is supported by a wide range of software that is able to fill most of the mistakes made by using handwriting.
In short, words are used to convey information, whether they are formed by handwriting or typing. They all use the same groups of symbols to form words, with minor variations, affecting the writing speeds. We can obviously notice that in the handwritten text, these words are individualistic, contain all of the beauty, flaws, and emotion from the author, but sometimes they are illegible. Tying words, on the other hand, are standardized to assure the legibility and free the writers from sticking their eyes on the words, maximize their concentration on the lectures or workshops. Both of these styles contain mistakes, incorrect grammar and awkward sentences. Which is better? The answer may lies in the hand of the writer – or the eyes of the reader.
