Task 1: The graph below gives information about the percentage of people living in Australia who were born in Asia, the UK, and other regions.
The graph illustrates the proportion of residents of Australia who was born in 3 different countries and other regions over the course of 55 years starting in 1976
Looking at the graph, it is immediately obvious that the figures for UK and Other experienced a downward trend except for Asia. It is also clear that Uk registered the highest figures in the first year while Asia recorded the lowest. However, at the end of the given period, Asia accounted for the highest percentage of people compared with the lowest figure of the UK.
In 1976, Other and Asia stood at around 12% and 6% respectively. In terms of Other, the figure saw a moderate decline to just above 5% in 1896 and then rose rapidly to 12,5% in 2001, then in 2006, this figure reach its peak at approximately 13%, exceeding a marginal decrease in 2011. In contrast, Asia started at merely 2,5% in the first year, which was one-fifth lower than Uk but witnessed dramatic growth over the given period, then in 2011, Asia topped out at exactly 15%.
In terms of the Uk, the figure stood at around 14% in 1976, and this was followed by an unceasing plunge over the given period then hit the lowest point at 5% in the last year
