The diagram illustrates the way chocolate is produced to sale in supermarkets and shops.
It is noticeable there are 10 steps involved, beginning with growing cacao tree, and ending with producing liquid chocolate
Initially, the cacao trees , grown in South America, Africa , Indonesia, have ripe fruits which are encased in a red pod. Then, the pods are harvested to collect white cocoa beans inside. After that, the cocoa beans are fermented for several days until they turn brown and left out in sunlight to remove all moisture. Once this has been completed, the dry cocoa beans are put in large sacks and transported by a train or lorry to a factory where they undergo further processing.
In the factory, the cocoa beans are roasted in an oven at high temperature of about 250C to 350C. Next, the roasted beans are crushed by a grinder to remove the outer shell which is unnecessary. Finally, the rest of the beans is pressed and the liquid chocolate is produced
