Some people think visitors to other countries should imitate local custom and behaviours. Others think that the host country should welcome cultural diversity. Discuss

Many people think that travellers to foreign countries should follow the cultural values and standards of behaviours of those countries while others claim that the host communities should accept cultural diversity. Both sides of this argument will be discussed in my essay below.

On the one hand, there are compelling reasons why some people feel that local culture and behaviours need to be complied by visitors. One of the reasons is because in some countries, especially the countries where religious values are prioritized, respecting customs and traditions of each country when people arrive not only shows their respect but also helps tourists avoid unexpected judgement from the locals. For example, once in my region, many ill-informed Western tourists do not respect local culture, such as wearing short skirts or dress inappropriate clothes when visiting religious attractions. Then they had received a rude assessment from inhabitants. Undoubtedly, there are many benefits for them when they do adopt the local customs of the host country.

On the other hand, many consider cultural diversity should be welcomed in the host country. First, the number of holidaymakers coming from diverse backgrounds to each country generally witnesses a rise every year. Therefore, it creates cultural variation between visitors and locals and also there will be a chance for the locals to broaden their horizons form civilized societies. In the world, there are several nations accepting cultural differences which may boost the travel industry and tourists may have more fun and love to visit that country again and again. As a result, the more visitors will come, the more economy of each country is improved.

In conclusion, I believe that hosts should welcome cultural variation. However, travellers should always remember to respect the customs and behaviours of their hosts to acquire a comfortable travelling experience.
