These days, people believe that the government should spend national funding looking after the older and supporting their finances, while others think that individuals have to take this responsibility. In my view, the elderly should be taken care of by family members, because of traditional and understanding each other, but the government also play a support role.
On the one hand, there are some reasons why people say that the elderly should be taken care of by the government. First, the government should spend more national funding on aged care and financial support for the older instead of producing or buying weapons. As a result, a number large of low-income people may reduce a great deal of monthly money. This is because they do not have to worry about insurance and medicine for aged people. Second, the government may provide a centre for older generations. Thus, the elderly can have more chances to create more relationships with the same age and getting help when they have health problems from doctors and nurses of the centre.
On the other hand, there are two reasons why people believe that the individual play a key role in looking after the elderly. First of all, there is a tradition in many countries, especially Vietnam and China, young people have to take care of their old family members, and they believe that it is gratitude. Consequently, this tradition is taken over and developed through many generations. Second, people who live together may understand each other. Thus, the elderly can easily ask for their needs, such as their favourite food and clothes.
In conclusion, governments have a responsibility to aged care and financial support for the old generations, providing good places and helping low-income families. In my opinion, I believe that individuals play a significant role in taking care of older family members.
