Idioms/Slang

Is there a slangy/idiomatic expression/phrasal-prepositional verb for using someone in an unwitting manner?

I mean the situation where the one who's being used in that manner is totally unaware of the advantage he/she may bring to the one who's using them. In other words: What would you say the latter is doing with/to the former, meaning that they are using him/her in an unwitting manner/fashion?
