I'd like to understand some idioms for my English to improve and to become more naturally so please explain " bring up," "catch up," and " hang up."

"Bring up" has several uses, for example:

I don't want to bring this up (I'm hesitant about saying this), but I saw your husband getting into his car at the Parkway Motel.

As usual we have Bob bringing up the rear (lagging behind everyone, the slowest in the group).

It's tough bringing up (raising) kids.

Get my toolkit and bring it up to me (deliver it into my hands).

Don't bring that up (don't mention that) again.

He brought up (hooked and reeled in) a huge grouper from the bottom of the bay.

"Catch up" has several meanings:

I was sick for a month and have to catch up on (study and do completely, without the benefit of regular classroom instruction) all the work I missed in class.

He's fast and he left and hour ago. I'll never catch up with (overtake) him.

We got our software out before them and they've been playing catch up ever since (they've been behind us competitively ever since).

"Hang up" has several meanings:

He hung up on me (he terminated the phone call abruptly and without warning).

Hang up your clothes (put your clothes on hangers, in the closet).

He has a hang up (an obsession) with tattooed women.
