Idiomatic expressions no. 2 - love handles

Dear All,

Let's leave aside political correctness for a second Emotion: wink
Today I'd like to ask about this expression: love handles
Is the following sentence correct? I'm not sure if we can use it in such a way.

I don't mind having some love handles on a girl.

Now, in my humble opinion love handles doesn't carry any negative connotation, if I may say so. What do you think?

In the US, "love handles" is only used for men, and many women consider them cute on a man. But women in the US are very sensitive about their weight, and "love handles" indicate excess weight, and so the term is not used for women - regardless of what the urban dictionary says.

In the US, you cannot comment like this on a woman's flanks without being insulting, so there is no corresponding term for women.
