I am new here. I have a question regarding the following two sentences taken from a novel: may I know whether they are idiomatic and natural?
1) He notices this cold and aloof attitude that most of the senior policemen have come to acquire over time.
2) Years of service have dimmed the illuminated and noble aspiration which they once had in their youth, when they had just joined the Force as new cadets.
The above are from a paragraph that describes a scene of a suicide that is attended to by policemen.
