IDIOM QUESTION

Hi if somebody could help me. There was a situationA in which I took one part and in the other situation B I took an opposite part and I need to say that i have been in both situations in form of idiom. Can I say "I have been in both shoes"? Would be correct or it doesn't make any sense? thanks
