Idiom meaning

Hi,
would you be so kind as to explain the following sentence to me, please? It seems like an idiom to me...

It wasn't up his alley at all.
(does it mean that it was none of his business?)

Without more context, I would venture to say that it could mean "it was not something that he liked" or "it was not within his area of expertise."
I could tell for sure if you were to provide more context, but I feel fairly certain that it does not mean that it was none of his business.
