Idiom for using force to open a door

I wonder if there is an idiom for saying that you use lots of force when openeing a door, opposite to how you say: slam the door shut.

Well, there's "kick down the door" but that's a little more force than you want, and not really an idiom either. Emotion: smile

"threw open the door" - this emphasizes the speed and force of opening it.
"yank the door open" - this emphasizes a quick, sharp motion to open it.

"wrench the door open" - this emphasizes the force that was needed to open it.

From " 'Twas the Night Before Christmas": tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

Frankly, I've never been able to picture this, exactly; but then there's such a thing as poetic license.
