I have found that sometimes students of English do not realize that certain words in English (but not in their

native languages) are very vulgar (that is, some words are too rude to say in front of other people). May I most

respectfully suggest that you never say that idiom. If you have to write it, just write it like this:" hand somebody

By the way, that is not an expression in general use, what is often imprecisely called an idiom. It is just something Capote wrote once. Nobody says that, and you shouldn't, either.
