Those relative clauses should not be reduced. eg. 3) I met a man who was confident in flying a kite.

  • Those relative clauses should not be reduced.
  • eg.
  • 3) I met a man who was confident in flying a kite.
  • Only #2 is (marginally) acceptable with the reduced form of the relative clause.
  • Also, if the clause is non-defining, you have to set it off with commas: 5) I promised my daughter, who was scared of an injection , that I will buy ice cream for her after the treatment.
