It can not be denied that every job has its advantages and disadvantages, and so does being a doctor and a firefighter. In terms of these, both fields show some similar as well as different patterns.
There are two similarities which are life-saving aim and high pressure in workplace atmosphere. To begin with, either a doctor or a firefighter assumes responsibility to work with people, especially these whose lives are being put at risk. In other words, when a person is facing the boundaries between life and death, he or she has to believe in a doctor to cure or a firefighter to rescue. In addition to this, the working atmosphere is equally stressful and more challenging than any other occupations. Both medical practitioners and firefighters have to accomplish their missions without any minor mistakes. Otherwise, the patients’ lives regarded greatly important under any circumstances can not be revived. Generally, both of these are human-related professions which are extremely demanding.
Despite given similarities, each job has its specific differences as well.
First of all, monthly salary of a doctor is higher than that of a firefighter. It can be understood that there are more patients whom doctors have to meet, compared to fewer cases of firefighters. This means that the former has heavier schedules than the latter and thus, it is documented a higher salary grade for specialists working in medical domain in many nations. The second difference between doctors and firefighters is the nature of each job. For a doctor, he or she is required to fill a prescription based on their specialist knowledge, whereas a firefighter utilizes more strength so as to extinguish the flames. Hence, a doctor will easily suffer from mental damage while a firefighter is vulnerable to physical injuries. As expressed, health practitioners can be viewed as white-collar workers and firefighters are the blue-collar.
To sum up, each job has not only benefits but also potential risks as well as challenges. Because of this, people working in these two fields should be supported and cared more about by the government so that the doctors and the firefighters can contribute wholeheartedly to their occupations.
