Iambic Pentameter

I know my iambic pentamter on this is off, but I don't how to fix it because its hard for me to hear the beats. Can I get some help?

At last I knew this day would surely come,
And by mine own two hands I’ve found death,
That queer old book has made my senses numb,
It has left me nothing but my weak breath,
The blasphemies spoken of in that book,

Have ripped into my brain and there laid babes,
I fear the words, those pages, my soul they took,
My dreams and hopes are haunted by black graves,
My mind cries out in utter shock and pain,
Pleasure and of pain I know nothing,
I will never be complete again,
That foul and loathsome beast I hear coming,
Tentacles and writhing teeth are out my door,
That book I never should have asked him for.

Yes, some of these are off beat. I will walk through this line by line and give you possible corrections by adding words in bold face and crossing out other words. At last I knew this day would surely come, (ok) And by mine own two hands I've I have found death, (No, you are short a syllable) That *** [strange] old book has made my senses numb, (ok with the right fill word) It has And left me nothing but my poor weak breath, (No, "it" takes the stress, wrongly, and the wording requires "nothing" to be accented on the 2nd syllable, which cannot be.

  • My sample corrects the pattern of stresses but requires you to add a new, stressed word).
