Letter Writing

I wrote a letter for a master please check grammer and context

Dear Dr XXX,

I am a PHD student at the department of computer science, university of YYYY. I am familiar with you and XCS, your interesting invention since I was Master of Science student. I have experience working with XCS and I interested in working about XCS during the thesis but I don’t have a clear idea what could be useful about XCS. However, I like to apply XCS in the context of data mining. Do you think this could be useful? I would be grateful if you could help me to approve the appropriate thesis topic. Certainly, any suggestion from you would be welcome. Thank you for taking this into consideration. Looking forward to receiving your comments.

Yours sincerely

Here are a few quick thoughts. PhD, not PHD You need to organize your text into paragraphs - introduction, body, conclusion. Start by telling him quickly what you want him to do.
