i would or i will

i would fall for the first step or i wil fall for the first step.
if im trying to say something that is not happening, or a statement, which tenses should i use.

for example,
if i am day dreaming and i say, "if i were a princess" or "if i am a princess"
or im talking to someone and im talking about a condition where it never happen yet. just a statement. for example.. "if I.. bla bla bla" what tenses should i use.

You should use 'were' because you are not a princess. If one cannot be what one wishes

Please note that the pronoun "I" should always be capitalized, and the first letter in your sentences should be capitalized.

Using "were" is not technically a change of tense -- it's a change in "mood."

The "not-real wishing" uses the "subjunctive mood."
