I would like your opinion on something

Hi there,

I'm wondering whether it is grammatically correct to combine Present Perfect Tense with Past Simple Tense? I have a particular example that I want to understand which is: "Both the environment and the people I have met were fantastic here." I have a gut feeling that it ought to be "are fantastic here" (sticking with the present tenses) rather than "were fantastic here" (using past tense). What is your opinion? Please let me know.

Hi

I think that most people, nowadays, are quite liberal about tenses, so long as it doesn't sound completely strange:

- I have met some great people here and they were really interesting to talk to

- I have met some great people here and they are really interesting to talk to

Both are good
