I would like to be able to write this correctly

I would like to be able to write this correctly. How would an English teacher have written :
After you burn your finger, putting ice on it will appease but it will hurt for 10 minutes after you take the ice off no matter how long you keep the ice on.

Thanks

Hi I'd say .. - If you burn your finger, putting ice on it will help, but it will probably still hurt for ten minutes, no matter how long you keep the ice on Dave

Yours doesn't say it will hurt for ten minutes after but 10 minutes total.

Hi - and Happy New Year!

I take your point about the ten minutes. Perhaps I would say, '.. but it will still hurt for about ten minutes after that ..'

'Appease' is difficult because it is usually said when one person is appeasing another. Maybe:

'.. putting ice on it will make you feel better, but ..'

or '.. putting ice on it will allay the pain, but ..'

So this is how you would say it?
If you burn your finger, putting ice on it will alleviate the pain but it will hurt for about 10 minutes after you take the ice off no matter how long you keep the ice on.
Thanks

Hi

I think I would keep a comma toward the end, otherwise it looks like a lot to say in one go

Also, I think we can have ice twice, but not three times. Maybe:

- If you burn your finger, putting ice on it will alleviate the pain but it will hurt for about 10 minutes after you take the ice off, no matter how long you keep it on.

I'd be happy with that
