I would like help identify two clauses

Greetings.

A friend has told me that there is both a verbal clause and a nominal clause in the following sentence. I'm not seeing this myself, so I wanted to see if someone else could confirm or deny my friend's claim. (I'm thinking that the first half of the sentence is a prepositional phrase for starters):

The sentence is:

In this case, his statement was of little use.

There's only one clause here, the sentence as a whole.

Note that since there's only one verb phrase, there can only be one clause.
