In Lord of the Rings:Fellowship of the ring, there's a line I can't make sense of grammatically.
Aragorn: I would have gone with you to the end, into the very fires of Mordor.
Frodo: I know. Look after the others, especially Sam. He will not understand.
But I thought "would have + past perfect tense" is for something that already happened like in
"I would have done it."
From what I understood, the line is about the future, so in my head "I would go with you ~"
Help me understand this:) Thank you for reading!
