I would have gone there thinking that the wedding would be tomorrow.

Dear all,

The context is: The other day one of my friends sent me a message on my WhatsApp. In it, he mentioned that the wedding of one of our common friends daughter was tomorrow and he has already made all arrangements to go to that wedding. I replied him that the wedding was not tomorrow, it's on the day after tomorrow. On hearing this he said the following. Could you please tell me whether this sentence is correct? If incorrect, please correct it.

"I would have gone there thinking that the wedding would be tomorrow."
