I thought 'will' and 'would' can mean 'want' ( 'do what you will' ... 'call it what you would') and so I thought 'Now I would have my revenge' might mean if used of the present time 'Now I would like to have my revenge.'

Those are fixed phrases. Now when I read your original sentence, I see that 'would' could mean 'want to'—but in an archaic style of English, as if from some 19th century adventure novel.
