I would be told to do something
I hope to go to a country where some terrorists activities are going on. It is confined to a certain part of that country.
1. I would often be told not to travel to rebel held areas of the country.
Is the above sentence fine?
What is the necessity of use 'would' here?
To write 'I would be told to do or not to do something' looks odd to me.
For example,we say 'would be thieves'. That is a different context.
For example, we say ' I would be extremely grateful to you if you would ... ' . That too is a different context.
Recently Marius and a few others taught me the different ways to use the word 'would'.
In a hypothetical situation, you could use 'would'.
When giving advice you could use 'would'.
For me some sentence like the following is the acceptable one in this context.
I have been advised not to travle to rebel held areas of the country.
