I would be grateful if...

Hello there,

If I want to ask someone to bring up a subject with someone else, should I say:

"I would be grateful if you didn't bring that up with him"

I want to tell him not to bring that up with him in the future, so why should I say "didn't" in the past.

What conditional type is this? Thank you
