I won't go there / I won't do it / You will make it!

Hey,

if I want to express that I am not sure if i go to an event, can I say: "I am not sure if I go there" or "I am not sure If I do it" (going to the event, of course Emotion: wink) Can I use going to? Using "will" would be wrong because of "if"? How would you say it?

If i am sur that someone will cope with it, can I say: "I am sure you will make it!".

Thanks

I would say "I'm not sure I'm going" or "I'm not sure I'm going to go". We don't use "do" for that. For some reason, "will" sounds too direct and definite there.

  • I would say "I'm not sure I'm going" or "I'm not sure I'm going to go".

  • "Will" is not wrong, but I'd probably only use it emphatically: "I'm not sure I will go" or to mean that I am considering deliberately staying away.
  • "I'm sure you'll make it" is fine.

Hi,

I don't know if I'll [go / be] there.

I'm not sure [that / if / whether] I'll [go / be] there.

In all the cases above you can use will without fear because those are not conditional sentences.
