I wonder whether the commas are needed.

The following sentence is the introduction of the writer (H.S. Bhatia, M.A.) from a book on grammar written by him. H.S. Bhatia, M.A., Sr Lecturer in English in a premier college affiliated to Punjab University, Chandigarh(,) is a reputed Indian English poet(,) whose works have been acclaimed in India and abroad.

The commas in brackets have been inserted by me. I wonder whether they are needed.

Thanks.

The use of the comma in your first () used to be mandatory, but many writers are now ignoring it just for the sake of appearance. I see no need for the second comma ().
