I wonder where is he now.

Hi

Would you say that the second sentence in each set is natural too? If not, is it just odd or plain wrong?

  1. I don't have to explain anything. She knows why I can't sign it.
  2. I don't have to explain anything. She knows why can't I sign it.

1) I wonder where she is now.

2) I wonder where is she now.

Thanks,

Tom

They are wrong. The wh -expressions are subordinate interrogative clauses (embedded questions), and do not normally have subject-auxiliary inversion. But the second sentence in each pair of your examples contains inversion and hence is ungrammatical.
