I wonder if 'has' and 'its' are correct.

In a relatively short time, the Olympic Games has established themselves as a major event. It is amazing to think that the Paralympic Games had its humble beginnings 50 years ago.

The above sentence is taken from a local exam paper. I wonder if 'has' and 'its' are correct.
