Hello, I don't know what grammar I should use in the following sentence: I wish I was the only one who MATTERS or MATTERED to you? Or some entirely different grammar?

There was a very old song from my youth, “If you were the only girl in the world and I were the only boy, nothing else would matter…” I would, today, say, “I wish I were the only one who matters to you.” Present tense.
