I will not ask or I will not be asking

Can this be said?

I was talking to my friend about a book. In the end, I say "Okay, I shall not be asking you about the book anymore".

He corrected me. You should say “I will not ask you about the book any more” not “I shall not be asking...”

What grammar rule am I breaking here?

Thank you.
