I will do it as soon as possible,

I have a feeling that we normally ask people to do something asap but wont say I will do it asap. it is more like a request than a commitment. I will probably put it like 'I will do it as soon as I possibly can.' Am I correct?

I think the main point is politeness. Usually a superior asks for something to be done asap. But as a response to a request it is a little like saying 'wait'.

  • 'I'll do it at once' is far politer.
  • Though 'Yes, asap' sounds positive enough.
