Hi everyone. I got a simple question. is it grammatically correct to use "that" in this sentence instead of "the" ? :
"I will buy that thing you mentioned"
I ask this because I think that both "the" and "that" can bring different and necessary meanings to such sentences.
I think using "the" can bring focus to the "buying" more, and using "that" can bring more focus to the "thing" that is going to be bought. but surely depending on the context the rate of that focus can differ.
I would appreciate it that if you could let me know if there was a legitimate book that agreed on this matter with me.
