I was wondering & I was thinking to myself.....

Is there a difference between "I was wondering....." and "I was thinking to myself....."?

If so, when should I use each of them?

Would you please give me some examples?

No, we don't say this. Well, you could if you forgot the word "wonder". It's understandable. But it's not really very natural.

Just use "I was wondering".
