Hi

Do you find this sentence natural, especially the yellow part? Any suggestion is welcome.

I was waiting for her at the restaurant. Waiting was getting rather long, so I asked the waiter for a pen and page and started writing a short story.

Should I use "the" before waiting?

Thanks,

Tom

is it OK or unnatural?

Thanks again,
