I [was] just embarrassed if I had to wait for Jane for myself.

I was just embarrassed if I had to wait for Janet for myself.

I'd like to know if that it is not "would be" but "was" is because "that I was just embarrassed" is a clear fact.

Apart from the "was" question, "wait for Janet for myself" is not right. May I ask where this sentence came from? If the sentence is from a non-native source, it might just be mangled.

  • Anyway, to address the question, let me change it to "I was just embarrassed if I had to wait for Janet by myself".
  • Here, waiting for Janet is something that is known or assumed to have happened on certain past occasions.
