I was in many different countries.

1) "I was in many different countries"

or

2) "I was at many different countries."

Which the sentence is correct"? And maybe the both are wrong?

"in", not "at", but "was in" is not as idiomatic as several other choices:

I went to a lot of different countries.
I've gone to ....
I've been to ....
I traveled in ....
I have traveled in ....
