I was calling you.

I was calling someone but he couldn't hear me because he had headphones on. After he took off his headphones I said:

'I was calling you.'

Is sounds wrong to me. Cause it sounds like I was calling on his phone. How do I correctly say it?

That means you were shouting, "Come here, Abdul!" or "Hey, Abdul!" (Abdul was some distance away.)
