I was astomished to see them in red car ?

I was astomished to see them in red car instead of green or I was astonished when i saw them in red car instead of green? Help me understand the difference if any? also let me know which is right grammatically?

Both are correct. The difference in meaning is small. "astonished to..." is more common, I would think.

To me, this one doesn't seem quite so well formed. It would be understood to mean the same though.
