What does the part in bold mean here? Is it a common phrase in English to praise someone's beauty?

Hasibrahmanand Penny was the sun that's shown for everyone.

It is not good English, certainly a poor imitation of Shakespeare, but the sentiment is obvious.

However, it is rather common in poetry to compare the qualities of a woman you love with the beauty of objects in nature

Romeo:

But soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
